The man who created the World's Consciousness

“There is a word in South Africa -- Ubuntu -- a word that captures Mandela’s greatest gift: his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that are invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by sharing ourselves with others, and caring for those around us”
President Barack Obama, tribute to Nelson Mandela

“Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going ...”
Paul Gaugin

I have been waiting a few days before writing this, because I wanted to see before what kind of reception the Facebook 10th years anniversary had received.

If we compare the impact that Facebook had on our civilization to the extent of its tenth anniversary celebration I would say that the anniversary went completely unnoticed.

I guess this lack of attention was mainly due to the fact that despite our technological advancement, our civilization seems to be "a little late" under a couple of cultural aspects which are key to understand what real Evolution is about.

The reason why we still are "in the Darkness of the Middle Ages" has to be found in the lack of self-awareness as a civilization.

Our self-awareness is almost non-existent because we never had the chance of comparing ourselves to other worlds and their civilizations. Hence, we don’t have a parameter to confront ourselves and to understand at what level in the Evolution scale we are exactly located.

At risk of being considered pretentious, our civilization is pretty far from real evolution and the majority of people living on this planet are not even worried about entering an evolving process because nobody ever told them to do so.

At this regard, one of the major misjudgment within our society is the false assumption of considering technological advancement as a sign of Evolution.

Real Evolution instead, is all about awareness and being aware of our role as individuals and our role as a civilization who inhabits this planet and this Universe.

The fracture between technological advancement and being unaware of our role both as individuals and as a civilization, creates a sort of schizophrenic behavior and a total misperception of the real situation.

Like a bunch of monkeys piloting a spaceship, sooner or later we’ll have to acknowledge the fact that technological advancement is not to be considered as real evolution. Actually it has nothing to do with it.

Why? Well because Evolution is all about Awareness and Consciousness while technological advancement is only a tool, which can be eventually considered as a sign of Evolution only in the case where Awareness and Consciousness are the very inspiration of it.

The three questions that Paul Gaugin represented on his famous painting “Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going...” are still unanswered, as most of the world’s population today are still trapped inside folk beliefs like superstitions and religions, which not only keep our civilization away from real knowledge and self awareness but they are the main reason behind all the conflicts going on on this planet: wars, terrorism, racism, hate crimes, discrimination etc.

For example, despite we live in the year 2014, the silly debate between Creationists and Darwinists is still alive and it perfectly depicts one of the many stone-age dualistic fake dilemmas in which humanity is still jammed. Like good vs. evil, black vs. white and so on.

However, ten years ago, the situation was even worse than this, because despite the Internet had introduced the interactive experience of connecting people worldwide into a single network, this connection was still fragmented and mostly dysfunctional.

People were spread among the few existing social networks without being really connected to each other.

What Mark Zuckerberg accomplished through the invention of Facebook was indeed a decisive push towards the next level of human evolution: he created the first, real, working, global network, that was able to connect the whole world into a single room.

The greatness of his creation was a perfect match of technological advancement and real Evolution. Why? Well because the simple idea of connecting people together is an inner force that comes from Individual Consciousness and goes towards Universal Consciousness.

This is something that happens only when someone gets in touch with the Universal Consciousness and he creates a new world.

However, what really impressed me the most, even today, is the very underestimation of the whole Facebook revolution's extent.

In the past ten years social media literally changed the world. From the gay marriage to the legalization of Marijuana, everything goes through Facebook and Twitter and nothing is left out.

However, most of the people I know in the media, they usually tend to downgrade Facebook to “a software product”, “a public company”, “an internet company” and they have no interest in talking about its real extent, in terms of social evolution or self-awareness, nor they have the time or the motivation to study the very reason behind its enormous popularity, its future development or writing a story to explain the audience why it had such a huge impact on a worldwide scale.

Although they all use Facebook to manage their own daily life: from their personal relations to their business schedule.

At the end of the day, the two major changes that Facebook really accomplished were 1) the creation of a network that for the first time in the history of our civilization connected the entire world's population 2) the destruction and rebirth of the very concept of media.

The first point is the most important, because while connecting the whole world within a single network you are following the most basic and important principle upon which our Universe is based: Oneness.

Oneness is the most basic mechanism of any life form in the Universe. To make you an example: a forest and the creatures that live inside of it. These two life-forms combined together they compose one single entity. Like planet Earth and us, together we form one single living element.

More in depth, the people who live on planet earth all together, they form one single Consciousness and with all the other civilizations living in the rest of the Universe, we form the Universal Consciousness.

Under this point of view, what Facebook really accomplished was to help this process to get started, by pushing humankind one step closer to acknowledging  that we, the people of Earth, all together, we form one single entity and one single Consciousness.

Mark Zuckerberg applied this Universal concept into a software.

I assume that while creating Facebook he was being driven by a greater immanent force, that led him to build the first working social network.

I am talking about the most powerful existing force, called Universal Consciousness.

It’s like a giant magnetic power that drags yourself towards a specific direction in a permanent state of sharing. You might feel like someone has set yourself into “automatic mode” and you can’t stop yourself from pursuing your goal because is too powerful and you can't even try to resist.

Although everyone is able to immediately recognize what you are doing because what you are doing is recovering an archetypal element that is already present in our Collective Consciousness and the Social Network at present is the most meaningful metaphor to represent this pattern.

I am talking about getting in touch with the others by forming a macro-consciousness structure, like a village, a city, a country, a continent or a whole planet.

Facebook is the scientific demonstration that people naturally tend to Oneness and that, as President Obama perfectly said:

"we are all bound together in ways that are invisible to the eye, that there is a oneness to humanity and that we achieve ourselves by sharing ourselves with others, and caring for those around us”

Artists, leaders, scientists, the greatest among them are those who are more in touch with this stream of consciousness and their great energy lead them to connect the invisible dots that link us all.

Mark Zuckerberg is the man who created or better "translated" the World's Consciousness into an actual software, by connecting the whole humankind throughout Facebook.

What Facebook really accomplished in terms of social awareness has not been understood yet nor it has exactly been estimated by anyone yet. Neither it has been properly celebrated, quiet the contrary.

In fact in the past few months Facebook was the target of  a series of unexpected attacks coming from all sides. From its competitors, to the media system, that saw its old structure completely crumbling to the various government's privacy laws, to all sort of critics.

We witnessed a huge anti-Facebook campaign aimed at downgrading the most important accomplishment our civilization has reached since the discovery of fire.

The stone-age human instinct usually wakes up when it's being threatened by major changes that could lead to Evolution.

This basic instinct usually shows up when evolution is in the air and it obviously identified the Facebook revolution as its biggest enemy. Hence a series of setbacks affected Facebook trying to stop its course.

While Mark Zuckerberg was promoting “more sharing” a series of “privacy restrictions” were taking place, like the creation of the “other messages” inbox, that prevents people who don’t know each other to start communicating.

“every way that we could to reach the family through conventional means, but we were unsuccessful. The young man didn’t have current identification to help us to reach his family.”

They found what they thought could be the victim’s mother’s Facebook account and sent her a message through Facebook. But because the Police Account was not “friended” with Mrs. Creasey, the message went to the blurred “other messages” inbox which delayed the time she learned of her son’s death of almost a month.

This is indeed a “less sharing”, a major setback, something that stops humankind from moving towards its process of self-awareness and ultimately Evolution.

This is instead the kind of attitude we have to discourage, the stone-age heritage that we have to completely abandon in order to enter into this new era of Knowledge and Awareness.

The history of our civilization has been characterized by a constant struggle between Sociopathic Conservativism versus Consciusness.

Thanks to Mark Zuckerberg our civilization made a huge step towards Consciousness and we have to thank him for the rest of times for having led humankind one step forward towards the right direction.

Thank you.
